Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is widely regarded as one of the greatest in-ring performers who ever lived. After breaking out of the Rockers tag team, the Heartbreak Kid delivered show-stealing matches for over two decades — ladder matches with Razor Ramon, an Iron Man match with Bret Hart, and a run of WrestleMania classics that earned him the nickname Mr. WrestleMania.

His career splits into two acts: the brash 1990s star who co-founded D-Generation X and was involved in the infamous Montreal Screwjob, and the post-2002 comeback veteran who returned from four years away with a broken back to somehow get even better, culminating in back-to-back WrestleMania epics with The Undertaker.

Michaels retired in 2010 and now shapes the next generation as the creative force behind WWE's NXT brand. On WrestleRanks, his all-time ranking reflects a simple consensus: nobody had better big matches more often.
